OHM Sponsoring a Concert to Collect for Holiday Toys for Kids.

One Hundred Mondays is happy to announce that we are partnering with Larry Dunn from Omaha to bring Toy Drive for Pine Ridge to Des Moines for the first time ever!

The Toy Drive for Pine Ridge is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that collects and delivers toys for children of the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota, and raises donations for heating, clothing, food, and educational resources for residents of the reservation.

The toy drive started in 2003 with Larry Dunn – an Omaha musician also known as Lash LaRue – a friend and a small pick-up truck. See how much this has grown at   http://www.toydriveforpineridge.com/

We do NOT consider this "charity".  In many ways "charity" from non-Natives is condescending and problematic for Native people.  We sought this out because Larry has a wonderful trusting relationship with community members in Pine Ridge built over many, many years.  Larry also has a great understanding of the complexity of reservation life and tribal issues.  There are no strings attached (aka evangelization), there are no publicity shots or PR work.  In simple terms, this is about a guy who is gathering toys for kids to make the holidays a little brighter, period. And we want to help him.

We hope you will consider supporting this cause.  The show will take place at the GAS LAMP on Saturday Dec. 7th.  This is an EARLY show.  Vago kicks the show off at 5pm, the One Hundred Mondays at 6pm, and King of Tramps close the show at 7pm.  It is an all-ages show!  Cover is $10 at the door OR a new, unopened present for a kid. ALL proceeds go to this great cause.

If you cannot attend but would still like to make a donation, email us at:  onehundredmondays@gmail.com and we'll figure it out.

We are also seeking business to donate raffle items for the show (or just cash donations)

In the meantime check these links and we'll see you on Dec 7th:
